The amount of downtime you may need after your treatment depends on your comfortability after. Some people get back to their daily routine right away. Though your skin may feel like it’s sunburned and pink for a few hours, you can still put on makeup and topical products. Some people also experience swelling for days after their treatments.
This includes swelling around the eyes. Bruising may also occur if you are having vascular areas treated. It is important to apply sunscreen of at least SPF30 for about two weeks after your treatment because your skin will be sensitive to sunlight. It is okay to use a pain reliever or compress a cool, damp cloth to help relieve any discomfort or pain.
Let any dark spots flake off, do not pick or scrub them. Dark spots can get darker over the first few days after your therapy, but you will see them become less visible over a couple of weeks. You may use moisturizer, but avoid using any products that have salicylic acid, retinol, or glycolic acid for at least a week after your treatment. Also, avoid excessive sun exposure for about a month.
Smoother skin, a more even skin tone, and less visible fine lines and wrinkles are around the corner. Depending on your goals, your experienced aesthetics professional may advise a treatment plan that will require more therapy sessions. Additional sessions may be scheduled a couple of weeks apart.
Some people say they feel a warm sensation as the blasts of light hit the skin, some say it can feel like a rubber band snapping on your skin, while others may not feel much pain at all. How this treatment may feel to you depends on the sensitivity of the area that is being treated.
The Sciton BBL therapy is safe, though there is a risk of burning or scarring for people with olive or brown skin. Your provider can make a recommendation on which treatment is best for you based on the results you want and your skin.
On average, patients pay $650. Your broadband light treatments may cost more or less depending on your treatment plan and the area(s) you are having treated.
